Clinical Description of an Excised Pigmented Lesion (a benign mole):
A solitary, pigmented lesion previously located at the medial end of the right eyebrow was surgically excised. The lesion exhibited a pitch-black coloration and an oval shape, with well-defined and sharply demarcated borders. It measured approximately 0.5 cm in elevation above the surrounding skin surface. Notably, the mole demonstrated terminal hair growth, with approximately 7 to 10 hairs arising from its surface.

laser removal of a hairy mole on right upper eyelid close to the medial end of the right eyebrow. It’s oval and dark brown with 7-10 thin hairs growing from it. It’s 0.6 cm raised above skin level. And the borders were well defined. It’s close to supratrochlear artery.
The webpage centers on the mole removal case studies done by Dr. Chung King Lueh at his dermatology and aesthetic medicine clinic in Central, Hong Kong. It features extensive case studies, clinical descriptions, and fee references for both surgical and laser mole removal. It shows how Dr Chung ensures clearance of a mole while prioritizes minimizing scarring.
Each case includes mole characteristics like:
1. Detailed images and descriptions of mole location, shape, elevation, pigmentation, and hair density.
2. Examples include moles on eyelids, philtrum, glabellar region, neck, ears, and nasal area.
3. Cases also include congenital moles and those with proximity to arteries (e.g., supratrochlear).
4. Histological findings confirming benign/malignant nature
5. Clinical safety notes include use of internal eyeshields during laser procedures near the eyes.
6. Equipments employed include Local Anaesthesia and sterile technique. Anaesthesia Ensures comfort during both laser and excision procedures. Sterile Technique is employed so that All instruments are autoclaved and procedures are performed in a medical-grade setting.
1. Surgical Excision: Recommended for deep, hairy, or suspicious moles; especially effective in sensitive areas like the eyelid and brow. Different excision techniques are discussed eg elliptical excision, skin flap, skin graft, Mohs surgery etc.
2. CO₂ Laser Vaporization: Precise and minimally invasive; ideal for smaller and superficial moles.
3. Staged Surgical Excision or staged CO2 laser cauterisation: Used for large birthmarks or high-risk moles, particularly near the eyes.

Case study of CO₂ Laser Vapourisation of Seborrhoeic Keratosis
Reference surgical fee: HK$ 15,000 - 20,000
A full-field CO₂ laser vapourisation procedure was performed to remove multiple seborrhoeic keratoses (commonly referred to as senile warts) in a single session. The treatment targeted benign epidermal lesions distributed across the affected areas, with the goal of achieving complete lesion clearance and improved cosmetic outcome.
Prior to treatment, the lesions appeared as flat or slightly raised growths with a scaly or rough surface texture. They exhibited varied pigmentation, ranging from brown to black or tan, and demonstrated the classic “stuck-on” morphology typical of seborrhoeic keratosis. Individual lesions measured between 0.1 cm and 1.5 cm in diameter, with multiple growths distributed across the affected area, consistent with age-related epidermal proliferation.
The procedure involved the use of an ultrapulsed CO₂ laser with a wavelength of 10,600 nm, employing a layer-by-layer ablation technique to precisely vaporise keratotic tissue. Local anaesthesia was administered as needed to ensure patient comfort throughout the treatment. Appropriate protective measures were implemented, including standard ocular shielding and skin protection protocols, to maintain safety during the laser session.
